PAK EXPORTS TO BE INCREASED AS FREE TRADE AGREEMENTS WITH CHINA ARE IN THE MAKING

Pakistan: The second Free Trade Agreement (FTA–II) with China would allow Pakistan to increase its exports to China by $4 to 6 billion in the next three years.
Vice President Ahmed Jawad (Pakistan Businesses Forum ) told to media that after implementing the FTA-II, Pakistan had been allowed to export more than 1,000 products to China with zero duties. The new facility is particularly benefiting leather, agriculture, confectionery items, and other sectors.
He added, “China has a great demand for meat and poultry, and it can be a lucrative international market for Pakistan. Both countries must work together to remove technical barriers like SPS and quarantine requirements”.
As per details, Pakistan’s exports to China grew by 17.5 percent reaching $2.12 billion last year. Pakistan’s exports to China rose to $888 million in the 1st quarter of 2021, while to $526 million during the corresponding months of 2020, showing an increase of 69 percent.
