EXIM Bank to Help Built a USD 200 million IT Park in Karachi

Pakistan: According to the source, a high-level Korean delegation led by Mr. Chong Hwa Lee, Director General, met with Ministry of Economic Affairs Omar Ayub Khan in his office during their two-day visit to Islamabad. The Republic of Korea Ambassador H.E. Suh Sangpyo and the Korean EXIM Bank representatives have also attended the meeting in Islamabad.
During the meeting, a credit deal for establishing an IT park in Karachi was also signed. The project will cost probably $199 million, while the EXIM Bank is contributing $158 million.
Both parties discuss a future roadmap for securing funding for possible projects and methods to speed up project implementation in the meeting.
The goal is to create an IT-enabled high-tech infrastructure in Pakistan that will allow IT companies to collaborate by using each other’s expertise, boost industry-academic collaboration, and promote entrepreneurship.
