AN INVESTMENT OF $700,000 BY SOUTH KOREA FOR AGRICULTURE DEVELOPMENT IN PAKISTAN

Pakistan: On Tuesday, Minister for National Food Security and Research Syed Fakhar Imam welcomed Korea’s investment of 700,000 US dollars in developing Pakistan’s agriculture sector through the Korea Program on International Agriculture (KOPIA). In addition, it said that technologies would be imported and customized to the local environments under the start.
Fakhar Imam said that through KOPIA Pakistan Center, bilateral cooperation would expand in agriculture machinery, agricultural inputs, and protected agriculture development, talking to a delegation headed by Hur Taewoong and Administrator Rural Development Administration (RDA), Korea.
Ambassador of the Republic of Korea to Pakistan Sur Sangpyo and Director Korea Program on International Agriculture (KOPIA) Pakistan Centre Dr. Cho Gyoungrae was attended the meet.
Minister for National Food Security and Research Syed Fakhar Imam much appreciated the support of the Republic of Korea in transferring the technology for small-scale Farming machinery and vegetable seed production system to Pakistan.
The minister said that introducing aeroponic technology for post-harvest management technology in chili crops, potato seed production, and the introduction of ryegrass as a high-yielding fodder will enhance overall production yield.
Fakhar informed the delegation about the livestock sector in Pakistan and the need to develop value-added animal products.
